Why AI search is different for healthcare
AI answers most health questions now. BrightEdge found that AI Overviews appeared on 89% of the healthcare keywords it tracks in 2025, up from 59% in 2023. On a broader set of 146 million results pages, Ahrefs found AI Overviews on 44.1% of medical queries, against 20.5% of all queries (November 2025). The exception is local intent: BrightEdge saw no AI Overviews on "near me" provider searches in 2025, where Google Maps still does the work.
AI leans on sources that look authoritative. In BrightEdge's analysis of 47,500 healthcare AI Overview citations, a third went to elite hospital systems, while ChatGPT leaned on government sites for 27% of its citations (January 2026). That's a hard bar for a private clinic, and it's why the work is less about keywords and more about expert-reviewed pages, consistent facts, and mentions on sources AI already trusts.
Google holds health content to a higher standard. Its Search Quality Rater Guidelines (September 2025) treat health as "Your Money or Your Life" content, where trust is the most important part of E-E-A-T and some advice must come from experts. Google says E-E-A-T isn't a ranking factor in itself, but that its systems give it even more weight on topics like health. AI answers are watched closely too: in January 2026, Google removed AI Overviews from some liver-test searches after an investigation by The Guardian.
Your content still has to follow advertising rules. AI answers happily call a hospital "the best", but in much of Asia-Pacific your own pages can't. Hong Kong's Medical Council code requires information that's accurate, factual, objectively verifiable and balanced, with no claims of superiority. Singapore's Healthcare Services (Advertisement) Regulations ban superlatives, testimonials and before-and-after images, though unedited patient reviews may appear on a provider's own site. Indonesia's health advertising rules (Ministry of Health Regulation 1787/2010) ban superlatives and "the only one" claims, and Australia's National Law bans testimonials. So the praise has to come from elsewhere: reviews, rankings and news coverage that AI can cite. (This is a summary, not legal advice.)
How we chose
Every AI search optimization agency on this list passed five tests:
- A published GEO service. A dedicated page for GEO or AI search on the agency's own site, not a passing mention in an SEO page.
- Real healthcare work. Healthcare clients, specialties or a healthcare-specific GEO offering it publishes.
- Care with the rules. Clinical review, compliance with local advertising codes, or patient-data safeguards it describes.
- Evidence. Named clients, published research, case results or published prices.
- A distinct fit. Each agency suits a different kind of provider or market, so the list covers hospitals, clinics, dental and pharma.
Every fact about the other nine agencies comes from their own websites, checked on 13 October 2026. Results quoted are their own claims.
1. GTMLab
Best for: hospitals, clinics and medical travel businesses in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong that want to be named when patients ask AI about treatments, doctors and hospitals, with every enquiry tracked.
GTMLab is a growth agency with teams in Jakarta, Hong Kong and New York, run by 100+ senior operators that include ex-founders, Y Combinator alumni and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree. Its healthcare clients include IHH Healthcare, Gleneagles, Mount Elizabeth and Siloam.
Its AI search optimization service runs on daily decisions rather than a fixed content quota. Each day the team checks what changed for the questions patients ask AI, such as "best hospital for knee replacement in Jakarta", picks the few tasks that drive most of the result, does them wherever AI engines read about the provider, and logs each one with the reason behind it.
What sets it apart
- Built for medical travel and private care: pages for each doctor and hospital, with structured data and open access for AI crawlers, in the languages patients search in.
- Tied to patient enquiries: AI referrals are tracked in GA4 on every plan and in your CRM on Growth and Scale, so an enquiry from an AI answer can be followed to a booked consultation.
- One team across channels: the same operators run paid media, landing pages and WhatsApp follow-up, which is where many patients in Southeast Asia make contact.
Proof: GTMLab built and runs search for medifly.ai, a medical travel platform for Indonesian patients. Rather than chasing broad terms like "treatment abroad", the team gave each of its 3,167 doctors and 299 hospitals a complete page in Bahasa Indonesia and English, with structured data and a robots.txt open to AI crawlers. Between mid-June and late September 2026, organic clicks grew about 4× and impressions about 5.6×. The case study is candid that there's no AI-citation data yet, so this is the search groundwork AI answers draw on. For IHH Healthcare, GTMLab built a patient lead engine across three hospital brands (Gleneagles, Pantai and Prince Court) that reached 5,000+ qualified leads in 10 weeks, with cost per lead down 70%. That engagement ran on Meta ads rather than AI search, but it's the enquiry system AI search plugs into.
Pricing and guarantee: Essential at $499 a month (30 logged tasks, 40 prompts across 3 AI engines), Growth at $999 (70 tasks, 90 prompts, 4 engines, CRM tracking) and Scale at $1,999 (140 tasks, 150 prompts, 5 engines, re-run daily). Plans start on a six-month term, then run month to month. GTMLab guarantees a number of prompts where you're named every quarter; miss it and you don't pay.
Less suited to: pharma and biotech brands that need GEO across doctors, investors and journalists, or US health systems that want physician-level audits. Real Chemistry and Healthcare Success fit those better.
2. Medico Digital
Best for: hospital groups, private clinics and medtech brands in the UK and Australia.
Medico Digital is a healthcare-only agency founded in 2015, headquartered in London with an Australian head office in Melbourne and sites for the US and UAE. Its GEO service audits how AI answers cite and describe a provider, optimizes for the questions patients ask, fixes schema and entities, builds authority off-site, and tracks both share of answer and bookings.
- Compliance: it describes its work as aligned with the ABPI code and is ISO 27001 certified; its Australian site says it's aware of TGA, AHPRA and National Law rules, with clinical review.
- Clients it names: The London Clinic, iRhythm and Teleflex. It reports a 186% rise in surgical-specialty visibility for Brisbane South Private Hospital.
- Research: its Healthcare AI Visibility Report 2026 tested 100+ UK private providers in ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode and Copilot.
- Worth knowing: a B Corp, ranked first among smaller agencies in PMLiVE's T40 for 2025.
- Pricing: not published.
3. PRESNSE
Best for: private clinics in Hong Kong that want bilingual AI visibility within the medical and dental councils' rules.
PRESNSE is a founder-led studio in Kwun Tong that works only with Hong Kong private clinics: GP, aesthetic, dental, specialist, physiotherapy and Chinese medicine. Its GEO service works on entity clarity, answer-ready definitions and FAQs, schema and technical SEO, and consistent clinic facts across the website and Google Business Profile, in English and Traditional Chinese. It designs answers around the Medical Council and Dental Council codes, and says plainly that it won't guarantee citations.
- Worth knowing: it says it has reviewed 1,200+ Hong Kong clinic websites and found about 70% had weak technical SEO. It runs no paid ads and, by policy, names no clients.
- Pricing: not published.
4. Hashmeta
Best for: clinic groups in Singapore, Malaysia or Indonesia that want one regional team.
Hashmeta has offices in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, with separate sites for Indonesia, the Philippines, China and Vietnam. Its AI SEO service covers optimization for citations in AI answers, entity authority, structured data and monthly reports on AI citations and sentiment, including medical entity work aimed at Google's health results.
- Healthcare: its Malaysia page says it has 50+ healthcare clients across dental, aesthetic, Chinese medicine and specialist care; its Indonesian site offers GEO for clinics with MedicalClinic and Physician schema and content written for health topics.
- Research: it publishes a 72-page Indonesia GEO Industry Report 2026.
- Pricing: published for Malaysia, RM 3,500 to RM 12,000+ a month; GEO is included from the RM 6,800 tier or added for RM 1,500.
5. Red Search
Best for: Australian GP, dental, specialist and allied-health practices.
Red Search is based in North Strathfield, Sydney, and works across 18 healthcare specialties. Its AI optimization runs in four steps: an engine-by-engine audit of AI answers in weeks one and two, entity and schema work in weeks two to five, building authority AI can cite, then ongoing monitoring.
- Healthcare specifics: it uses Physician and MedicalClinic schema with links to each practitioner's AHPRA registration, and says its pages follow AHPRA advertising guidelines, with no clinical testimonials.
- Worth knowing: a senior specialist on every account, no lock-in contracts, and a registered NSW Government supplier. It names no clients.
- Pricing: not published.
6. Healthcare Success
Best for: US hospitals and health systems that want a fixed-fee pilot down to the physician level.
Healthcare Success is a healthcare marketing agency in Irvine, California, founded in 2006, with 40+ staff and, it says, 1,000+ healthcare clients. Its healthcare AI visibility service sets a baseline in ChatGPT and Gemini, maps patient personas, analyzes visibility by service line and by individual physician, fixes schema and technical issues, and has everything clinically approved before it's published.
- Its method: a seven-layer "AI Visibility Stack", using technology from its partner Inlets.ai.
- Pricing: a 90-day Service Line Audit at a fixed $5,000, covering one service line, one metro area and up to 30 physicians (listed for bookings through November 2026).
7. Real Chemistry
Best for: pharma, biotech and medtech brands.
Real Chemistry is a large health communications firm with hubs including New York, San Francisco, London and Singapore; it says it works with 20 of the top 20 pharma companies and has 2,000+ experts. Its HealthGEO service, launched in August 2025, maps how AI models describe a company, product or therapy area, flags hallucinations and outdated information, benchmarks AI share of voice and delivers an action playbook, using more than 10,000 prompts written as patients, doctors, investors and journalists would ask them.
- Research: its survey of doctors found that 52% of physicians who use AI search don't usually verify its answers.
- Pricing: not published.
8. WebFX
Best for: medical practices that want published pricing and reporting backed by the agency's own software.
WebFX is a large US agency founded in 1995 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with 750+ staff and, it says, 230+ healthcare specialists. Its healthcare GEO service covers an AI visibility audit, strategy, healthcare content and structured data, review requests that respect HIPAA, and tracking of visibility, sentiment and competitors in its OmniSEO tool.
- Clients it names: URAC, where it reports a 188% rise in traffic from AI channels, and Merrimack Valley Psychological Associates.
- Pricing: published, from $3,000 a month.
9. Sagapixel
Best for: US elective and private-pay practices, such as med spas, plastic surgery, dermatology and dental.
Sagapixel describes itself as a national healthcare digital marketing agency in the US, working with med spas, plastic surgeons, dermatologists, dentists, home care, senior living and telemedicine providers. Its AI SEO service covers AI visibility audits, content built to be cited, structured data and entity work, and ongoing experiments.
- Worth knowing: a Google Premier Partner that logs time against every task.
- Pricing: month to month, from $1,500 to $20,000+ a month.
10. Rosemont Media
Best for: US plastic surgery and cosmetic dental practices.
Rosemont Media was founded in 2008 in San Diego and runs separate GEO services for plastic surgery, dental, eye care and bariatric practices. Its work restructures content, adds Physician, MedicalProcedure and FAQ schema, keeps credentials and practice details consistent, and tracks AI citations.
- Care with patient data: it says no patient health information goes into metadata, and content is medically reviewed.
- Results it reports: Richmond Aesthetic Surgery and Dr David Bottger appearing in Google's AI Overviews.
- Worth knowing: it offers clients market exclusivity, so it won't work with a direct competitor in the same area.
- Pricing: not published.
What a healthcare GEO plan should cover
Whichever generative engine optimization agency you choose, the work should include:
- A page for every doctor and every treatment. AI answers name specific doctors and procedures. Each needs a complete page: credentials, specialties, languages, hospital affiliations and what the treatment involves.
- The most specific schema type. Google has no special schema for its AI features and recommends the most specific LocalBusiness type, so use MedicalClinic, Dentist or Hospital for the practice and Physician for each doctor. FAQ rich results stopped showing in Google from May 2026, so add FAQs for patients and AI, not for a search feature.
- Consistent facts everywhere. The same name, address, hours, specialties and prices on your site, Google Business Profile, directories and partner sites.
- Proof from others. Since your own pages can't use superlatives or testimonials in most of the region, earn reviews, rankings and press that AI can cite.
- Clinical review. A qualified person checks every page before it goes live, which is good practice for E-E-A-T and often a legal requirement.
- Maps for "near me". AI Overviews rarely appear on local provider searches, so Google Business Profile and maps still matter for patients nearby.

Frequently asked questions
What does a GEO agency for healthcare do?
It works to get a hospital, clinic or health brand named accurately in the answers ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI give to patient questions. That means pages AI can quote for each doctor and treatment, consistent facts across the web, mentions on the sources AI trusts, and checks that what AI says about you is correct, all within the advertising rules for medical services in your market.
Is GEO compliant with healthcare advertising rules?
It can be, if the agency knows the rules. The content you publish for AI is still advertising in most markets, so it must be accurate and verifiable, and in Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia and Australia it generally can't use superlatives or testimonials. Good healthcare GEO puts verifiable facts on your own pages and earns the praise on independent sources.
Which AI engines matter most for hospitals and clinics?
Google's AI Overviews, because they now appear on most health searches, followed by ChatGPT and Gemini, which patients use to research treatments and compare providers. For "near me" searches, Google Maps and your Google Business Profile still matter more than AI answers.
How much does a GEO agency for healthcare cost?
On this list, published prices start at $499 a month (GTMLab's Essential plan), with Sagapixel from $1,500 a month, WebFX from $3,000 a month and Healthcare Success's fixed-fee audit at $5,000. Hashmeta includes GEO in Malaysian plans from RM 6,800 a month. Agencies that serve hospital groups and pharma usually quote per project.
Does schema help a hospital appear in AI answers?
It helps AI understand who you are, but it isn't a shortcut. Google says its AI features need no special structured data, and recommends the most specific schema type for your business. Schema works best alongside complete doctor and treatment pages and consistent facts across the web.
How long does healthcare GEO take?
Technical fixes and new doctor or treatment pages can start appearing in AI answers within weeks. Being named consistently for competitive patient questions usually takes several months, longer for health topics, where AI favors sources with an established record of trust.
See where you stand first
Before you talk to any GEO marketing agency, see what AI tells patients about you today. GTMLab's AI visibility check asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews and Claude what a patient in your city would ask, then shows which providers they name instead of you, where they got their facts, what to fix first, and how fast your site loads on a phone. It takes about a minute, with no sign-up for the first read. Plans are on the pricing page.
