How guests use AI to choose where to stay
Guests now ask AI for a shortlist. SiteMinder's Changing Traveller Report 2026, covering travelers in 14 countries including Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore, found that AI use for accommodation research grew almost 4× in a year (November 2025). Ask an assistant for a quiet hotel near the station and it typically names three to five options, not a page of links, says a March 2026 whitepaper from HES-SO Valais-Wallis, a Swiss university. So each "best hotel in X for Y" question has room for only a few hotels.
Being big isn't enough. 5W Public Relations, a PR firm on this list, ran 60+ traveler prompts five times each across five AI engines between April and June 2026. By its estimates, Marriott took about 10% of brand citations and Hilton 8.5%, while Wyndham, with the most US locations of any chain, took 1.6%. The answers drew on travel editorial, review sites such as Tripadvisor, Reddit, news and brand pages, so a hotel must be described well there, not only on its own site.
Google's listings feed Google's answers. In Searchimp's October 2026 study of Hong Kong hotels, one saved AI Overview answer about three people staying near an MTR station named four hotels and cited 20 different Google Maps listings. Another recommended a hotel for indoor swimming; the hotel lists an outdoor pool. Your Google Business Profile, reviews and room details feed the answer, errors included.
The direct-booking fight has moved into AI. Google said in November 2025 that it will let people finish booking hotels in AI Mode, with Booking.com and Expedia among the partners alongside Choice, IHG, Marriott and Wyndham. In February 2026, Wyndham, one of those partners, said it had also connected its hotel data to Anthropic's Claude; its CEO told Skift, "The focus is really on driving more direct bookings." OTAs are gaining too: SiteMinder expects them to overtake search engines as where guests start hotel research, and says Indonesian travelers will book through OTAs more than any other market in 2026. Yet the share who start on an OTA and then book direct is up 3.3 points. Every booking that moves to your own site carries no OTA commission, and AI answers now help decide where it goes.
How we chose
Every AI search optimization agency on this list passed five tests:
- A published GEO service. A dedicated page for GEO or AI search on the agency's own site, not a passing mention in an SEO page.
- Real hospitality work. A GEO offering built for hotels, or a hospitality-focused agency with its own GEO service.
- Work beyond the website. Reviews, listings, OTA consistency, booking connectivity or press: the places AI reads about hotels.
- Evidence. Named hotel clients, published research, case results or published prices.
- A distinct fit. Each agency suits a different kind of property or market, across Asia, the US and Europe.
Every fact about the other nine agencies comes from their own websites, checked on 13 October 2026. Results and claims are their own.
1. GTMLab
Best for: hotels, resorts, villas and serviced apartments in Southeast Asia that want to be named when guests ask AI where to stay, with direct bookings tracked to revenue.
GTMLab is a growth agency with teams in Jakarta, Hong Kong and New York, run by 100+ senior operators that include ex-founders, Y Combinator alumni and a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree. It has worked with 200+ brands and operated $20M+ in ad spend.
Its AI search optimization service runs on daily decisions rather than a fixed content quota. Each day the team checks what changed for the questions guests ask AI, such as "best villa in Uluwatu for a family", picks the few tasks that drive most of the result, does them wherever AI engines read about the property that week, and logs each one with the reason behind it. It tracks six AI engines and works in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
What sets it apart
- Direct bookings tracked to revenue: AI referrals are tracked as their own source in GA4 on every plan, and in your CRM on Growth and Scale.
- One team from answer to booking: the same operators run paid media, SEO, landing pages, WhatsApp follow-up and the CRM, so a guest arriving from ChatGPT gets the same follow-up as one from an ad.
- Reporting you can check: a dashboard of where you're named and who's named instead, a daily task log with win alerts, and a call every two weeks.
Proof: for Ashley Group, six hotels in Central Jakarta, GTMLab sustained 40×+ ROAS over a year, with direct booking its strongest channel and less reliance on OTAs. That ran on paid media rather than AI search; it's the booking system AI search feeds. GTMLab also built and runs search for medifly.ai, a medical travel platform for Indonesian patients, with a complete page in Bahasa Indonesia and English for each of its 3,167 doctors and 299 hospitals, structured data and a robots.txt open to AI crawlers. Between mid-June and late September 2026, organic clicks grew about 4× and impressions about 5.6×. The case study is candid that there's no AI-citation data yet, so this is the search groundwork AI answers draw on.
Pricing and guarantee: Essential at $499 a month (30 logged tasks, 40 prompts across 3 AI engines), Growth at $999 (70 tasks, 90 prompts, 4 engines, CRM tracking) and Scale at $1,999 (140 tasks, 150 prompts, 5 engines, re-run daily), or from IDR 9 million a month in Jakarta. Plans start on a six-month term, then run month to month. GTMLab guarantees a number of prompts where you're named every quarter; miss it and you don't pay.
Less suited to: hotel brands with hundreds of US properties that want GEO built into a website platform, or hotels in Europe that want a team in their own market. Milestone Inc., Becurious and Brandnamic fit those better.
2. Milestone Inc.
Best for: US hotel brands, management companies and multi-property groups that want GEO on the same platform as their websites.
Milestone Inc. is a hospitality-focused digital marketing company in San Jose, California. Its GEO service starts with a one-time audit of how AI describes a brand, covering citations, sentiment and a 25-KPI technical score. Ongoing work then optimizes topics and entities, adds FAQs, guides and topic pages, and reviews AI-driven sessions, leads, bookings and revenue.
- Its own technology: a GEO Intelligence Platform for benchmarking AI visibility, a GEO-first CMS and a Schema Manager.
- Clients it names: logos on its GEO page include Marriott, IHG, Choice Hotels, Preferred Hotels & Resorts and Historic Hotels of America.
- Pricing: not published.
3. Screen Pilot
Best for: independent and branded hotels and resorts in the US and UK that want GEO tied to paid search, reviews and the booking engine.
Screen Pilot is an integrated marketing agency for hospitality, travel and leisure, with offices in Denver and London. Its "Route to Recommendation" approach starts from a property's data, product and brand, then covers technical work (schema, a site AI crawlers can read, consistent facts across OTAs and listings), social proof (reviews collected through the CRM, YouTube video) and conversion (paid search, maps and booking-engine optimization). Its GEO Audit maps a property's AI visibility into a prioritized plan.
- Results it reports: for the Grayson, a Midtown Manhattan hotel, 72 cited mentions across AI platforms, 37 placements in AI search features and 86 unbranded keywords in the top 10.
- Clients it names: Marriott International, Benchmark Hotels and LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort.
- Pricing: not published on its own site.
4. Digital Hitmen
Best for: villas, hotels and resorts in Bali that want a published monthly price.
Digital Hitmen is based in Perth and runs a Bali operation led by Ghazy Aziz, a bilingual SEO and GEO specialist. Its Bali page covers villas, hotels, resorts and boutique stays, focused on direct bookings. Its GEO service covers content and entity work, authority building, listings on Google, Bing and Apple Maps, schema, and monthly reports on AI mentions and citations across six engines.
- Awards it lists: APAC Search Awards winner (2026) and Standout Use of AI at the Global Digital Excellence Awards (2025).
- Pricing: published by monthly hours: A$1,900 (12 to 15 hours), A$3,800 (25 to 30 hours) or A$6,800 (50 to 60 hours), starting with a six-month sprint, then month to month.
5. Searchimp
Best for: Hong Kong hotels that want a careful, fixed-scope start, in Traditional Chinese.
Searchimp is a Hong Kong GEO and AI search visibility consultancy whose site is written in Traditional Chinese. Its GEO Kickstart is a four-week work plan: check today's AI answers for a set of buyer questions, fix one priority page and build three pieces of public proof AI can cite, then retest the same questions on the agreed platforms, with monitoring and retests for 60 days.
- Research: its hotel GEO study, written for hotel marketing teams, records which of 33 Hong Kong properties Google's AI Overviews recommended across six stay scenarios (answers saved in October 2026).
- Worth knowing: it says plainly that it doesn't guarantee AI rankings, citations or recommendations.
- Pricing: quoted per scope.
6. 5W Public Relations
Best for: hotel groups, resorts and travel brands that want GEO led by PR and earned media.
5W Public Relations was founded in 2003, with offices in New York, Miami and Tampa, and its hospitality practice says it helps travel brands increase bookings through GEO. Its GEO service audits citations across six AI engines, rewrites pages to answer questions directly, adds schema, and works on the third-party sources AI reads, from Wikipedia and Reddit to trade press, with monthly reports on citations and share of voice.
- Research: its Travel AI Visibility Index tracks how hotels, airlines and destinations appear in AI answers; the 2026 airlines and hotels edition covers 25 travel brands.
- Clients it names: Foxwoods Resort Casino, Harvest Hosts, David's Vacation Club Rentals and Tourism Lisboa.
- Pricing: not published.
7. Lodging Interactive
Best for: branded and franchised hotels in the US that want GEO and review management from one team.
Lodging Interactive has worked in hospitality since 2001 from Parsippany, New Jersey, and says it has supported 2,700+ hotels. Its GEO service works on brand authority and citations, structured data so AI reads a property's amenities correctly, and sentiment, using guest feedback as trust signals, with daily monitoring and what it calls a "100% human-led" approach.
- Worth knowing: its reputation service covers 140+ review sites.
- Pricing: not published.
8. UP Hotel Agency
Best for: UK hotels planning a new website that want GEO built in.
UP Hotel Agency is a hotel web design and digital marketing agency in Rugby, England, and a Google Partner. Its GEO service has six parts: an AI crawler audit; schema for rooms, amenities, policies and reviews; answer-first content on what guests decide on, such as parking and pets; citation, review and PR work; voice search; and monitoring of AI answers and assisted conversions.

An optional setup with an integration partner connects the hotel to Google Hotel Ads, Microsoft Hotel Ads and Tripadvisor.

Brandnamic calls itself "by hoteliers for hoteliers", with its campus in Bressanone (Brixen), South Tyrol, and offices in Merano and Munich. Its GEO work has three parts: GEO Analysis, checking how search engines and AI read a hotel's content; GEO Onpage, new AI-friendly content on the site; and GEO Offpage, placing content on news portals, industry directories and discussion platforms, with ongoing monitoring. It frames the goal as visibility and direct bookings.
- Clients it names: Sensoria Dolomites, Mons and Alpin Panorama Hotel Hubertus. With Kohl & Partner, it also runs Familienhotels Südtirol, a cooperation group of 25 hotels.

What a hotel GEO plan should cover
Whichever generative engine optimization agency you choose, the work should include:
- A page for every stay you want to win. Start from your booking data: families, business trips, honeymoons, long stays. Give each the facts AI needs, such as room types, distances to the places guests ask about, and pool, breakfast, parking and pet policies.
- The most specific schema type. Mark up the property as a Hotel, Resort, BedAndBreakfast or VacationRental (types of LodgingBusiness on Schema.org), with amenities, check-in and check-out times, languages and star rating. Google says its AI features need no special markup; schema simply helps AI read your facts.
- The same facts everywhere. Name, address, room details and policies should match across your site, Google Business Profile, OTA listings and Tripadvisor. When they don't, AI may repeat the wrong version.
- Reviews and mentions AI can use. Ask guests for reviews on Google and Tripadvisor, and reply to them; a review that mentions a quiet room or a short walk to the beach gives AI a detail to match. Earn coverage in travel editorial and local guides, which carry weight in hotel answers.
- A direct booking path you can measure. Keep rates consistent across your site and the OTAs, and keep the booking engine fast on a phone. GA4 has had an AI Assistant channel since May 2026, ChatGPT tags its links with
utm_source=chatgpt.com, and visits from Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode still count as Organic Search. Carry the source through the booking engine to see which AI visits became stays.

Frequently asked questions
What does a GEO agency for hospitality do?
It works to get a hotel, resort or villa named, and described correctly, when guests ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI where to stay. That means pages AI can quote for each stay scenario, schema, consistent facts across your site, Google Business Profile and OTAs, reviews and mentions on the sources AI reads, and tracking the direct bookings that follow.
Which AI engines matter most for hotels?
For most hotels, Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode come first: they draw on Google Maps listings and reviews, and Google plans to let guests book hotels inside AI Mode. ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity matter for trip planning, so a good agency tracks each engine separately.
How much does a GEO agency for hospitality cost?
On this list, published prices start at $499 a month (GTMLab's Essential plan, or IDR 9 million in Jakarta), and Digital Hitmen publishes plans from A$1,900 a month for 12 to 15 hours of work. Both start with a six-month term, because being named consistently takes months. The other agencies here quote per scope or per project.
Can GEO help a hotel win more direct bookings?
It can, if AI names your hotel for your guests' questions and the click lands on a fast page with a clear way to book direct. OTAs appear in AI answers too, including in Google's planned hotel booking in AI Mode, so being named isn't the same as being booked. Track AI visits through to the booking engine to see what they're worth.
Does schema help a hotel appear in AI answers?
It helps AI read your facts, but it isn't a shortcut: Google says its AI features need no special markup. Use the most specific Schema.org type, such as Hotel, Resort or VacationRental, and keep the same facts on your Google Business Profile and OTA listings.
How long does hotel GEO take?
Fixes such as correcting listings, adding schema or publishing a page for a key stay scenario can show up within weeks; Searchimp, for example, retests within four weeks. Being named consistently for competitive questions, like the best family resort in Bali, usually takes several months.
See where you stand first
Before you speak to any GEO marketing agency, see what AI says about your business today. GTMLab's AI visibility check asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google's AI Overviews and Claude what a guest choosing where to stay in your city would ask, then shows who they name instead of you, where they got their facts, what to fix first, and how fast your site loads on a phone. It takes about a minute, with no sign-up for the first read. Plans are on the pricing page.
